How can we help?
Launching soonAbout homey
Does my helper have to use it too?
No. But it works best when they do. Your helper adds what they buy on their own phone, so you do not type in their receipts. You can add what you buy yourself.
You set the budget, see what was bought, and get a reminder on payday and before a document expires.
Everything else works even if your helper has not joined.
Does my helper need their own phone?
Yes, they need their own phone and their own login. You do not share an account.
homey works on iPhone and Android, including older phones. It uses very little data, so a prepaid plan is fine.
Can another employer join the household?
Yes. Share your household code. They sign up as an employer and enter it.
They cannot join while a helper or another employer is in their own household.
Each person has their own sign-in. You all see household spending, the calendar, helpers, documents and salary amounts.
To stop, they tap Leave household in My account. Or the employer who has been in the household the longest taps Remove next to their name. What they added stays with the household.
After you remove someone who uses homey, your household gets a new code. The old code stops working.
Can I manage more than one helper?
Yes. Each helper gets their own card on your dashboard, with their own salary, payday and documents.
Household spending goes into one shared budget, not one per helper. It is one household buying one set of groceries.
What each side sees
What can I see of my helper's spending?
Everything they mark as Household: the amount, the category, the date, the shop, and the receipt photo if there is one.
It shows in your household activity once their phone has internet, so your budget total stays up to date.
Why can't I see their personal spending?
Because it is their own money, not household money.
This helps you too. A helper who knows their private spending is not watched has no reason to leave things out of the household record. The privacy is what makes the household record complete.
Can my helper see the salary and documents I record?
Partly. Once your helper connects, they see the salary amount, payday and documents.
Your helper never sees your record of each payment. Your helper keeps their own private record.
Can my helper edit or delete a household spend after adding it?
Yes. They added it, so they can fix it: a wrong amount, the wrong category, or a spend saved twice.
If entries were locked, mistakes would stay in your record. Your household activity always shows the latest version.
Can my helper see my own money?
No. homey cannot see your bank, your cards or your own pay. Your helper never sees a spend you add as Own money.
The money in homey is the household budget, the spending against it, and the salary you pay your helper. Once connected, your helper sees these.
Money and budget
What is the difference between the household budget and salary?
They are separate and never mix.
The household budget is for what gets bought for the home. Spending is counted against it each month.
Salary is what you pay your helper. It sits on their card with their payday. It is never counted as household spending.
What does "Top up" do, and how is it different from "Set amount"?
Top up adds money to this month only. Your normal monthly budget stays the same. Use it for a one-off: a party, guests, a big restock.
Set amount changes the monthly budget from now on. Use it when your normal household spending has changed.
Your helper can top up too. Every top-up is saved with the date, the amount and who added it.
Does homey pay my helper or move money?
No. homey is a record, not a payment app. It holds no money and makes no transfers.
It shows the salary and payday, and reminds you on payday. You pay your helper the same way you do now.
Documents and records
Is homey an official MOM record?
No. homey is your own record-keeping, nothing more.
It does not send anything to MOM or your agency. It does not replace anything the law asks you to file or keep.
It makes your own records easy to find and hard to forget.
What is worth keeping in here?
Anything with a date that would cause a problem if it passed:
- Work Permit
- Passport copy
- Employment contract
- Insurance policy and security bond
- Medical checkup records
Will I be reminded before something expires?
Yes, as long as you enter the expiry date when you save the document.
homey reminds you before the date, on your dashboard and by notification. Work Permit and insurance renewals are the two most often missed.
My helper is leaving. Do I lose the records?
No. Nothing is deleted. Removing a helper archives them.
Their salary record, documents and every spend they added stay as they were. Their past spending still counts in your household totals for those months.
You find them under Past helpers. You can see them but not change them. You may need to show a past helper's records later.
Connecting your household
How do I connect with my helper?
Your household has a short household code, shown in My account. Send it to your helper to enter.
Does your helper already use homey? Ask for their code. Enter it on Add helper. Your helper taps Connect in homey.
That joins you into one household. It does not matter who signed up first.
My helper doesn't want to use the app. Can I still use homey?
Yes. You can add household spending yourself.
On your own you also have the household calendar, salary and payday, documents with reminders, and your household budget.
You can connect later. Nothing you entered is lost.
My helper already has a homey account. What happens then?
Nothing is lost. Send them your household code, or enter their code on Add helper. When they connect, the two accounts join into one household.
They keep their personal side, and it stays private. Only the household side is shared.
You see their household spending, also what they added before you connected. Their personal spending stays private.
Their household categories are added to your list. If you have no household budget yet, theirs is used.
Your account
I am getting a new phone. What do I do?
If you signed up with Apple and change to an Android phone, set a password in My account first.
Install homey on the new phone. Sign in the same way as before: with your email and password, or with Apple.
Does homey look empty? You may have signed in a different way. Sign out. Then sign in the same way as before.
How do I change my password?
Go to My account > Change password. You will need your current password.
If you have forgotten it, tap Forgot password? on the Sign in screen. We will email you a link.
If you signed up with Apple and have no password yet, go to My account > Set a password.
How do I delete my account?
Go to My account and tap Delete account. Everything in it is removed, and this cannot be undone.
homey checks it is you first: with your password, or with Apple.
Forgot your password? Sign out. Then tap Forgot password? on the Sign in screen.
If another employer is in the household, the household stays with them.
If you are the only employer, the household and its records are removed, and a connected helper is disconnected.
Deleting your account does not delete your helper's account. Their personal side belongs to them.
About homey
Who is homey? Are you from MOM or from my agency?
No. homey is a private app made by a small independent company in Singapore.
We are not the Singapore government. We are not MOM. We are not your agency, and we are not your employer.
We never show your private information to your employer or your agency. We only share it if the law says we must.
Will homey work on my phone?
Yes. homey works on both iPhone and Android phones.
It also works on older phones. You do not need to buy a new phone.
Does homey use a lot of data?
No. homey uses very little data. It is made for prepaid phone plans.
Your spending, your calendar and your documents are saved on your phone. You can open the app and add things even when you have no internet.
Do I need my employer's permission to use homey?
No. You do not need permission from anybody.
You can download homey and use it by yourself, the same as any other app on your phone.
What if my employer never joins homey?
Everything still works. You can use homey alone: your own money, the household spending, the calendar and your documents.
Connecting with your employer is optional. It only means you share the household part. You can connect any time later.
When your employer joins, send your employer your code from My account. Or enter your employer's household code. Nothing is shared until you tap Connect.
If you connect later, your employer sees your household spending and calendar. This includes what you added before you connected. Your personal spending stays only yours.
Your household categories are added to your employer's list. If your employer has no household budget yet, yours is used.
Your privacy
Can my employer see my personal spending?
No. Never.
Every time you add a spend, you choose Household or Personal. Anything you mark Personal is only for you. Your employer cannot see it. Your employer is not told about it, not even the total.
This stays true after you connect with your employer. It does not change.
What can my employer see?
Nothing, until you connect. After you connect, only the household part:
- Spends you marked Household, also the ones from before you connected
- The receipt photo, if you added one
- The household calendar, also what you added before you connected
- The household budget and the household categories
- Top-ups you add, with your name
- Documents saved in the household
- Your salary amount and payday
That is the whole list. Nothing else is shared.
If you leave, what you already shared stays with the household.
If another employer joins the household, they see the same list.
If another helper works in your home, they see the household spending too. They never see your personal spending.
Can my employer see the money I send home?
No.
The money you send to your family is personal. Your employer never sees how much you send, who you send it to, or how much of your pay you keep.
Will homey tell my employer that I joined?
No. homey does not tell anyone when you join.
Your employer sees the household part after you connect your household with them. Not before.
My employer asked me to use homey. Do I have to share everything?
No. Connecting only shares the household part: household spending, the calendar, your documents and your salary amount.
Your personal money always stays private. There is no setting that lets your employer change this.
You can leave at any time: tap Leave household in My account. You keep your personal money. What you already shared stays with the household.
Can homey see my messages, my photos, or where I am?
No. homey does not read your messages, does not look through your photos, and does not track your location.
It only keeps what you type into the app, and the photos you choose to add.
Using homey every day
How do I add a spend?
Tap the round + button at the bottom of the screen. Then:
- Type the shop name
- Type how much you spent
- Take a photo of the receipt if you have one
- Pick a category. Household is at the top. Personal is below.
Tap Save. It is best to do it straight after you pay, so you do not forget.
What is the difference between Household and Personal?
It is about whose money it was.
Household is money spent for the family you work for: groceries, cleaning things, things for the children. Your employer sees these when you are connected.
Your employer can also add household spending. It shows your employer's first name.
Personal is your own money: your phone top-up, your own food, money you send home. Only you see these.
Not sure? Ask yourself: would my employer pay me back for this? If yes, it is Household.
Do I still need to keep paper receipts?
No. You do not need to keep the paper.
When you add a spend, take a photo of the receipt. It is saved in homey with the amount and the date.
If your employer asks about a spend, you can show them the receipt on your phone.
I typed something wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes. Tap on the spend, then edit it or delete it.
You can change the shop, the amount, the category or the date.
Does homey hold my money or send it for me?
No. homey is a record book, not a bank.
It does not hold your money, pay your salary, or send money to your family. It only keeps a record of what was spent.
Can I use homey in my own language?
homey is in English.
Your documents
Can I keep a copy of my Work Permit and passport here?
Yes, and it is a good idea.
Go to My account > Documents. Tap + Add document.
Type the name, for example Work Permit. Tap Upload file to take a photo or pick a file. Then tap Add document.
Now you always have your own copy on your phone, even when the paper is not with you.
Will homey tell me before my Work Permit expires?
Yes. When you save a document, also type in the expiry date.
homey reminds you before that date. Your employer renews the Work Permit. homey also reminds you about your passport, insurance and medical checkup.
Can my employer see my documents?
If you are connected to your employer, then yes. If you leave, your employer keeps the documents you shared. Documents are a shared household record.
This is on purpose. Your permit, contract and insurance matter to both of you, so you both see the same information. Your personal money is still private.
If something changes
I changed my phone number. Do I lose everything?
No. Your homey account uses your email address, not your phone number.
You can change your number as many times as you want. Your spending, budget, calendar and documents all stay.
I lost my phone. What do I do?
Get any other phone, install homey, and sign in the same way as before: with your email and password, or with Apple. Everything comes back.

I am changing employer. Do I lose my history?
No. Your account belongs to you, not to your employer.
Go to My account and tap Leave household. When you start your new job, enter your new employer's household code.
Your personal money history stays with you, through every job.
What you shared with your old household stays with that household.
